Wilson Creek Winery is scaling back their operations after a few "of their own" test positive for Coronavirus. This is a new reality in Temecula as we jump back into trying to resume life but knowing there is a virus lurking among us. Yes, we all want to get out and do the things we have always done. Sitting at the Wilson Creek buffet on a Sunday morning sounds pretty amazing right now. Gosh, sipping sparkling wine and wandering from the salads to the roasts and finishing with a plate of dessert sounds so delightful. Most of us desperately miss those simple pleasures and hopefully one day soon we will return to those days.
But, those days are not here. And, you need to respect the restaurants and wineries that are being open about the challenges they are facing. A few days ago 1909 a very popular restaurant in Old Town had to deal with a similar incident after one of their employees tested positive. They have closed temporarily. You can check their status on their website or call. Wilson Creek hasn't gone into full shut down mode but, they are reducing the business and offering less services. Their website announced the following https://www.wilsoncreekwinery.com: The Tasting Room and Creekside Grille Restaurant are temporarily closed. We will re-open phases. The outside courtyard area will be open from 10am-5pm for bottle sales, wine club pickups, wine slushies and a limited food menu. I've never had these "slushies" before but from the sound of things they are popular. Apparently, people need some slushies... 7-11 is my go to on that one. On the Wilson Creek Facebook page Bill Wilson released a video. He mentioned how the winery has taken a step backward after the positive COVID tests. He mentioned that the facility has been professionally cleaned and that the operations are moving outside. They also plan on testing all the employees to make sure they test negative before returning to work. Mr. Wilson then went on to express how mask policies will be enforced after being a "little lax" over recent weeks. A good portion of the video was about the importance of using masks to protect those around you. "If you don't believe in wearing a mask, you don't believe that is for you please don't come." He went on to say that masks protect people and if we don't start protecting each other "we need to curl back up in our rooms and shelter in place". Bill Wilson wrapped things up by saying "these are serious times". The full video can be seen here: https://www.facebook.com/wilsoncreekwinery/videos/826137824580549/
